What you can buy

NRIs and OCIs may purchase residential and development-authority-allotted residential plots (such as YEIDA plots) under FEMA / NDI Rules 2019. Agricultural land, farmhouses and plantations are not permitted. Confirm your eligibility with a CA / FEMA advisor.

Sending money from Qatar

Funds flow via your NRE, NRO or FCNR account through normal banking channels — exchange-house transfers to your NRE account are common for Gulf-based NRIs. No cash transactions. We co-ordinate with your bank for each milestone disbursement.

Power of Attorney — Gulf

Qatar-based NRIs require consulate attestation of the PoA at the Indian Embassy or Consulate in Doha (not apostille). This lets a trusted person sign documents on your behalf in India. We provide a template and guide you through the steps.

Repatriation & TDS

NRE-funded sale proceeds are freely repatriable for up to two residential properties. NRO route is capped at USD 1 million per year. LTCG TDS is 12.5% (post 23 Jul 2024) plus surcharge and cess, unless you obtain Form 13 relief. We flag Form 15CA/15CB so there are no surprises — but please consult your CA for your specific situation.
