Can an NRI buy a plot and build a house in India?

Yes — NRIs/OCIs may buy residential and development-authority residential plots (e.g. YEIDA) and build, but not agricultural land/farmhouses/plantations. Payment via NRE/NRO/FCNR. Consult your CA/FEMA advisor. See our FEMA guide.

Who owns the land and the home?

You do. The plot is registered in your name (with your representative acting under PoA for signing). Vidastu is your design-build partner, not a co-owner.

What if I can never visit during construction?

That's the point of remote-build: photo/video updates at each stage, video calls with the team, and a representative under PoA on the ground. Many NRIs complete a build without flying in.

How long does it take?

Typically 10–16 months from design to handover, depending on size, approvals and specification.

How are payments structured?

Milestone-linked, matched to verified construction progress, paid from your NRE/NRO account. For RERA-registered projects, ≥70% of funds sit in escrow.
